For more information about AerComTec, please contact
us.
" What does AVL stand for?"
AVL is an abbreviation for Automatic Vehicle
Location System. With major advances in technology, "Car
54, where are you?", is no longer a question
without an answer. AerComTec's AerTrax(tm) system
is an innovative, dependable and cost-effective
AVL system with an entry level of one unit and
no capacity limit. AERTRAX can serve a company
with four vehicles as easily as a company with
four thousand.
" What does GPS stand for?"
GPS is an abbreviation for Global Positioning
System. The GPS is owned and operated by the
U.S. Department of Defense. Its primary mission
is to serve the navigation needs and weapons
delivery missions of the U.S. Armed Forces worldwide.
The GPS signals are produced by a constellation
of satellites and are available at all times.
" Will my vehicles need a huge antenna?"
No! The AERTRAX antenna is about the size of
a match box. Several mounting options are available
including magnetic, adhesive, glass mount and
screw on. Click here to view available antennas.
" How do I receive information from
the AerComTec resource center regarding my mobile
assets?"
AERTRAX information may be accessed from any
laptop or desktop computer (IBM Compatible or
Apple) that has access to the Internet. AERTRAX
supports only the Microsoft® Internet Explorer
4.x Web browser.
" Who will train my employees to operate the system?"
The only training required relates to accessing
the Internet and using a Web browser. Anyone
now using a web browser is 95% trained.
" How accurate is the AERTRAX System?"
AERTRAX position accuracy is determined through
a triangulation with the GPS satellite constellation.
Accuracy is +/-50 meters.
" Ok! I understand that I can receive information
about my fleet from the Internet, but how does
the information get from my moving vehicle into
the system?"
The AerTrax system utilizes a new, highly dependable
and inexpensive communications concept called
Control Channel Data. Other VLS systems utilize
cellular voice channels or existing two-way radio
systems; these systems are subject to interference,
data loss and interception by competitors. The
AerTrax data is error-corrected and is always
transmitted at full legal power. Both in the
air and over the Internet, AerTrax data streams
are extremely difficult to intercept or corrupt.
